Crafted from a single vineyard in the renowned Coonawarra region and produced by 50-year veteran winemaker Peter Thompson, the Peter Thompson Coonawarra Merlot 2019 is a beautifully expressive red that reflects both site and season. From the outset, this vintage shows remarkable character, drawn from a perfect 10/10 James Halliday-rated growing year, making it one of the finest Merlot releases from the region in recent memory.

In the glass, it displays a deep purple core with bright red hues, and the nose delivers inviting layers of mulberry, plum, and earthy undertones, gently lifted by notes of vanillin oak and dark chocolate. The palate is lush and full, with rich black cherry, a subtle hint of leather, and a plush, round mouthfeel that lingers long after each sip. It's a balanced and generous Merlot that shows the hallmark smoothness of the variety with added depth and structure from its Coonawarra terroir.
